NPR's Anthony Brooks reports from Istanbul on yesterday's national elections. Unofficial returns suggest Prime Minister Bulent Echevet of Turkey won while an ultra-right-wing Nationalist Party made a surprisingly strong showing, taking votes from the country's Islamist movement. Many in Turkey had hoped these elections would bring stability to a country plagued by weak governments in recent years, but it appears election results portend more of the same.
