Hezbollah-Led Bloc May Make Gains In Lebanon Vote
A coalition led by the Shiite Muslim movement Hezbollah is expected to win a slim majority in Lebanon's parliamentary elections Sunday.
Paul Salem, director of the Carnegie Middle East Center, says though Hezbollah is fielding only 11 candidates in the elections, it is the dominant force in its coalition, which also includes Christian parties.
"The influence of this group is not in the number of seats that it has in Parliament or in government," he says, "it's in its ability to impose its will."
