Winemaker Looking For Social Media Guru

The Murphy-Goode Winery in Sonoma, Calif., is looking for a "social media guru." The job involves "tweeting" on Twitter, blogging, posting on Facebook and using other Internet social media to generate buzz about the winery's products. The job pays $60,000 for six months work.

And our last word in business today is about a job opening in the American wine industry. The word is Twittering in the vineyard. The Murphy-Goode Winery in Sonoma, California is looking for a social media guru. The job involves Twittering, blogging, posting on Facebook and using other Internet social media to generate buzz about the winery's products. That means tasting the winery's products, of course. Compensation for such toil is $60,000 for six months. There's no health insurance.

Still, more than 700 people have sent in video applications. One shows the candidate gargling, or gurgling, with a bottle of red wine. Another taped himself chugging wine out of a Minnesota Viking's helmet. Hmm. Don't know about that one. But the objective is, after all, to connect with younger Web-oriented consumers who might think wine is a little fancy for them.
