Serge Koussevitzky
NPR's Elizabeth Blair profiles conductor and bassist Serge Koussevitzky. For many years he was the leader of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Koussevitzky was a big advocate of music by American composers, many of whom had their works performed by Boston when orchestras were generally more interested in European works. This month is the 125th anniversary of his birth.
