Edward L. Bernays

In part two of our series on "The Psychology of Getting and Spending" NPR's Brooke Gladstone reports on the life and legacy of the father of public relations, Edward L. Bernays. Bernays was the first to understand that what motivates people to buy things can be used as a tool in advertising. His clients ranged from cigarette companies to the U.S government.
