East of Eden

In 1952, John Steinbeck published a novel called "East of Eden," a book that he hoped would serve as the crowning event of his lifetime as a writer. Our book reviewer, Alan Cheuse has been revisiting some American prose classics this summer and has finished his re-reading of East of Eden.
