Colombia's Narco-Guerrillas

Host Bob Edwards talks to NPR's Tom Gjelten about the alliance in Colombia between anti-government guerrillas and the drug lords who traffic in cocaine. The United States provides assistance to Colombia's military, which is fighting against the alliance. The Colombian guerrillas provide protection to the cocaine traffickers and receive large sums of money in return. The guerrillas are well armed with sophisticated weapons.
