Heat In The Midwest

Temperatures continue to soar in many areas of the nation and in the midwest, high humidity and the mercury hovering near 100 degrees has health officials concerned about the well-being of residents who are unable to find ways to cool off. In cities such as Chicago, St. Louis and Cincinnati citizens are encouraged to take advantage of so-called "cooling centers". Steve Shadley prepared this report from member station WBEZ in Chicago.
