  • "Good to Be"
  • "The Places We Lived"

  • "How in the Hell Did You Get Back Here"

Brothers Ed and Matt Anderson — on guitar and bass, respectively — and drummer Tim Kramp are at the core of Backyard Tire Fire. The trio is joined here by guitarist Scott Tipping and keyboard player Andrew Weir.

The Bloomington, Ill.-based rockers perform songs from their breakthrough release, The Places We Lived, which garnered high praise and landed the group high-profile opening spots with bands as diverse as Lynyrd Skynyrd and Clutch. They also preview a couple of songs from their upcoming album, which they're currently recording with producer Steve Berlin of Los Lobos.

This feature originally ran Jun. 17, 2009.
