Before we end this hour, I need to say something to our listeners.
You won't be hearing my voice for a while. I'm going to step away from Studio 2A for a few months to work on a book project. The project was inspired in part by the conversations from York, Pennsylvania, where Steve Inskeep and I sat down repeatedly with a diverse group of voters to talk about race and the presidential election.
I'm going to spend some time this summer considering one thing: How Americans talk about race, specifically, the hidden conversations about race that take place outside of the public sphere. So for a time, I will enjoy being an ALL THINGS CONSIDERED listener, but not for long. I'll be back in mid-September.
