Koogle, the kosher Google, is a new Hebrew language search engine unveiled recently. It's specifically geared towards religious Jews so that they don't accidentally come across sexually explicit material when surfing the Web.
Koogle is a play on the Jewish noodle pudding of the same pronunciation.
Search engine developer Yossi Altman told Reuters, "The site was developed in part at the encouragement of rabbis who sought a solution to the needs of ultra-Orthodox Jews to browse the Web, particularly for vital services."
Koogle has links to Israeli news and shopping sites for Jews that are filtered for unsuitable content. But don't search the site on Saturdays. The Jewish sabbath is down-time, and if a user tries surfing on Shabbat, Koogle will crash.
