Singer-songwriter Neko Case has been making music since she was a teenager. First inspired by country and then punk music, Case eventually combined her passions to develop a signature sound that blended contemporary rock, pop and country elements on her solo debut, The Virginian. She's spent time as a member of The New Pornographers, and toured with the Canadian rock band The Sadies as her backing group; its members helped co-write "The Pharaohs," included here.

Accompanied by guitarist Paul Rigby (co-writer of many of the songs from Middle Cyclone) and longtime back-up vocalist Kelly Hogan (who plays the music box on this acoustic performance of the album's title track), Case performs an acoustic set of songs from Middle Cyclone.
