The 2007 hurricane evacuation plan for New Orleans residents calls for mandatory evacuation in the event of a Category 3, or higher, hurricane.

And there's something new in the way residents can receive emergency notification. Cell phone users have the option of being notified by text message in the event of an evacuation.

Lt. Col. Jerry Sneed, director of the New Orleans Office of Emergency Preparedness, talks to Alex Cohen about this year's hurricane contingency plan.
