Haleh Esfandiari has been in Tehran's notorious Evin prison for more than three weeks.

She and two other American Iranian scholars are charged with espionage and endangering Iranian national security.

Because the U.S. government does not have diplomatic relations with Iran, friends and families of those accused must seek help from European countries.
