Singer Sewing Machine Bankruptcy

NPR's Madeleine Brand reports that the Singer sewing machine company has declared bankruptcy. Analysts say interest in sewing has declined in the U.S. since consumers can easily purchase inexpensive clothes instead of making them. Singer's troubles were compounded when it lost 50 million dollars in a botched deal with a Russian sewing machine parts maker.
