Illinois.

July 10, 2009A Philadelphia-based band with a misleading name, Illinois mixes many styles into its eclectic Southern-style blues-rock. Made up of childhood friends, the group makes the most of its natural chemistry, earning comparisons to everyone from Wilco to The White Stripes to Arcade Fire along the way. With countless miles, gigs and ideas under its collective belt, Illinois decided to put its hundreds of unreleased songs to good use by releasing a new EP every month for six straight months. Naming the series The Adventures of Kid Catastrophe the band launched the project last November. The resulting collection has a mix-tape vibe to it, yet all the songs and styles fit seamlessly together. This past May, the group packaged all six EPs together in a deluxe album edition.
