Laramie Verdict

NPR's Mark Roberts reports that a Wyoming jury had convicted Aaron McKinney of felony murder in the death of gay university student Matthew Shepard. McKinney could be sentenced to death because, although the jury found him NOT guilty of first degree murder, they found him GUILTY of second degree murder. The combination of murder with kidnapping and aggravated robbery makes McKinney eligible for the death penalty. The sentencing phase of the trial begins tomorrow.
