Armageddon and the New Millennium

NPR's Barbara Bradley reports on concern among law enforcement agencies that religious extremists will use the arrival of the new millennium, as an excuse to carry out violence, based on their belief that the forces of good will be fighting the final battle against the forces of evil. The idea is based on the biblical book of Revelation(s), which predicts such a confrontation and calls it Armageddon. The FBI is providing police across the country with information about such extremists, who would be more likely to act alone, than as part of a greater conspiracy.
