Joint Petroleum Venture

Host Madeleine Brand talks to oil industry analyst Philip Verleger about the $800-million joint petroleum venture announced this week by Royal Dutch Shell and Iran's National Oil Company. Verleger says that Shell needs the additional petroleum reserves and Iran needs Shell's expertise to develop them. Shell is proceeding with the venture despite protests from the United States that it violates the 1996 Iran-Libya Sanctions Act.
