Genentech Settles Patent Lawsuit

NPR's Elaine Korry reports on the settlement offered in a long-standing patent infringement lawsuit. The University of California at San Francisco says Genentech, a biotechnology company, stole its research of human growth hormones and ignored the university's patent. Genentech has offered a $200-million settlement. If the jury finds the company guilty, it could be forced to pay almost $3 billion.
