Radio Expeditions in the Black Sea

NPR's Neal Conan has the first of two reports in the latest NPR-National Geographic Society Radio Expedition. He's in the old port city of Sinope, Turkey, where an effort is underway to trace ancient trade routes on land and under water. Archaeologists analyze shards of pottery and other artifacts to determine when the area was active as a trade route. Tomorrow they'll continue the quest underwater. (8:30-8:39)
