EgyptAir Flight 990
NPR's Jennifer Ludden reports from Cairo on the widespread skepticism among Egyptians about suggestions that the co-pilot of EgyptAir Flight 990 deliberately crashed the plane Oct. 31. Many say it's highly unlikely Gameel Batouty would commit suicide, since a Muslim who kills himself dies an infidel. Suicide among Egyptian Muslims is extremely rare. Others say Batouty's uttering of a short prayer proves nothing, as this is quite common among Egyptians.
