The Tobacco Wars

NPR's Debbie Elliott reports on how 1999 changed the tobacco wars. Juries started ruling against the tobacco industry in smoking and health lawsuits after 50 years of verdicts in favor of tobacco companies. Industry advertising has been curtailed. And the federal government has sued the industry in order to recoup the cost of treating sick smokers.
