Gidget, 'Taco Bell' Chihuahua, Dies At 15
LINDA WERTHEIMER, host:
Good morning. I'm Linda Wertheimer with sad news. Gidget, the Chihuahua famous for saying yo quiero Taco Bell in commercials for the restaurant chain died this week at 15. Gidget suffered a stroke and had to be put down. The doggie diva was retired at the time of her death. Some activists saw the Taco Bell mascot as a Mexican stereotype, but her popularity got her a role in the movie Legally Blonde 2.
It's MORNING EDITION.
