Fiddler John Rankin Dies

Canadian fiddler John Morris Rankin died on Sunday after his truck plunged into the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Rankin played fiddle and piano with his four siblings in groups known first as The Rankin Family and then the Rankins. Their music drew from the strong traditional Celtic roots of Cape Breton island in Nova Scotia.
