FAA Requires Inspections of all MD-80s

NPR's Mary Ann Akers reports that the Federal Aviation Administration has ordered airlines to inspect the tail section of all MD-80 series aircraft. The FAA order is a cautionary move based on preliminary findings in the crash of Alaska Air Flight 261. Wreckage from that crash indicated that the jackscrew that moved the horizontal stabilizer, appeared to be damaged.
