Cuban Families Who Flee

Tom Gjelten reports that the case of 6-year-old Elian Gonzales is just one of thousands of cases in which Cuban families have been split apart when one parent has fled the island and left a spouse and children behind. Another prominent case is that of Jose Cohen, who left Cuba by boat and reached Miami five-and-a-half years ago. Cohen's wife, three children and his parents were subsequently issued U.S. visas, but Cuba's government has not given those family members permission to leave Cuba.
