Iran Holds Parliamentary Elections

Host Bob Edwards talks to NPR's Jennifer Ludden about this week's parliamentary elections in Iran. President Mohammed Khatami has spent the past three years challenging the absolute power of the hard-liners in Iran. Khatami's calls for increased social and political freedoms have struck a chord among Iranians, especially women and the young, who were instrumental in getting him elected.
