Cuban Music

The rhythmic and romantic music that filled Cuban dance halls in the forties and fifties is enjoying a worldwide revival since the 1997 release of the Grammy-winning blockbuster, "Buena Vista Social Club." The album features several elderly Cuban musicians who'd been all but forgotten back home. Their unexpected rise to stardom has inspired some fellow retirees to dust off their instruments and return to performing. NPR's David Welna found a group in Old Havana, passing the hat and hoping for a big break:
