NPR's Ted Clark reports from Washington that China has raised the ante in its dispute with Taiwan, which Beijing is determined to reunite with the mainland. China this week threatened the use of force if Taiwan indefinitely delays negotiations on reunification. China's threat, actually part of an 11-thousand word document that is largely conciliatory toward Taiwan, has had the effect of building US support for Taiwan in Congress.
