Hawaii is the biological gemstone of the United States. It is second only to California, a much larger state, in unique species of plants and animals. But Hawaii's geographic isolation created a place where native organisms are highly vulnerable to alien plants and animals. NPR's Christopher Joyce reports on the battle to protect some of the rarest organisms in the world from a tide of invaders.
