Domestic Goats

When agriculture was invented about 10 thousand years ago, it transformed the human condition. Efficient food production gave people spare time, and they used that time to create real civilization. Archaeologists have been searching for clues to explain why agriculture first arose. Now, according to NPR's Richard Harris, analysis in Science magazine of some old goat bones is illuminating that critical moment in human history.
