New Chaplain At House Of Reps

NPR's Brian Naylor reports that House Speaker Dennis Hastert has named a Catholic priest as the new Chaplain for the House of Representatives. His original choice, a Presbyterian minister, withdrew this week because of controversy over the appointment. Father Daniel Coughlin will be the first Catholic to hold the position of House Chaplain. Speaker Hastert vehemently denied that anti-Catholic bias had anything to do with his original selection of the Reverend Charles Wright.
