Remembering Broadway's David Merrick

Stage producer David Merrick died yesterday in London at the age of 88. Merrick was produced more than eighty Broadway shows. His work repeatedly won Tony Awards, as well as other industry honors. Robert talks with writer and director Arthur Laurents, author of Original Story By: A Memoir of Broadway and Hollywood (Knopf, 4/4/2000), about his memories of working with David Merrick. Laurents directed "I Can Get It For You Wholesale," which Merrick produced. And Laurents also wrote "Gypsy" which Merrick produced for Broadway.
