NPR's John McChesney reports that America Online is teaming up with computer maker Gateway to produce a device that will be known for what it doesn't have: a Windows operating system and an Intel chip. The internet appliance the two companies will make will use the Linux operating system and a chip from a little-known company called Transmeta.
