Au Revoir Simone: We're Not French

When the members of the Brooklyn-based trio Au Revoir Simone came by the KEXP studios recently, we were delighted to discover that they seemed as excited to see us as we were to see them.

It turns out that band member Erika Forster was introduced to our online streaming by a coworker at her old day job; she in turn got bandmates Annie Hart and Heather D'Angelo into the station. They showed up looking wide-eyed and curious, at which point they walked through the hallways, checked out the autographed posters and memorabilia hanging on our walls, and politely peeked into offices to see what goes on behind the scenes.

At the same time, my KEXP coworkers couldn't resist peeking in at Au Revoir Simone's terrific in-studio session. The three women played a stripped-down version of their beautifully melodic electro-pop songs, at which point it was our turn to be wide-eyed and appreciative of their chiming three-part harmonies.

Engineered by Kevin Suggs.
