Math and Science On Stage

Guests: David Auburn Guggenheim Fellow Playwright, Proof Brooklyn, New York Bob Osserman Author, Poetry of the Universe: A Mathematical Exploration of the Cosmos (Doubleday, 1996) Professor Emeritus, Mathematics Stanford University Special Projects Director Mathematical Sciences Research Institute Berkeley, California Math and science have come out of the ivory tower and into mainstream culture. Next week, the play Proof—set in the world of higher mathematics—makes its Broadway debut. From Arcadia to Copenhagen, many current plays are tackling topics such as Fermat's Last Theorem and quantum physics. In this hour, we'll take a look at math and science on stage.
