New Secretary of Defense

President-Elect George W. Bush selected Donald Rumsfeld as his Secretary of Defense. Rumsfeld had been expected to be named CIA director. He was Ambassador to NATO and Secretary of Defense in the Ford administration. With the reputation of advocating a strong Armed Forces, he is expected to influence the rest of Bush's national security staff. NPR's Neil Conan reports.
