text sizeAAA
June 18, 2007

The United States and the European Union are pledging money in support of the government of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert suggests that his government also will release more money to support Abbas' new government — now that it excludes Hamas. What will be the extent of the influx of aid, and how will it affect the Palestinian conflict?

Robert Malley, director of the International Crisis Group's Middle East program, was special assistant for Arab-Israeli affairs under President Clinton and director for Near East and South Asian Affairs at the National Security Council. He talks with Michele Norris about the political developments in the Middle East.
