Wildlife Center Covers Up Naked Penguin

Normally penguins are quite dapper. Ralph lives at a wildlife center in England, and wears a wetsuit. Unlike other penguins, he sheds all his feathers at once. Which leaves him naked and at risk from sunburn. His new attire came about because this year Ralph became a father —and with two chicks to care for — he can't hide inside during molting season.

RENEE MONTAGNE, host:

Good morning. I'm Renee Montange.

Normally, penguins are quite dapper in the penguin suits, but a wetsuit? That's what Ralph is wearing. Ralph lives at a wildlife center in England, and unlike other penguins, he sheds all his feathers at once, which leaves him naked and likely to get a sunburn. His new attire came about because this year, Ralph became a father. And with two chicks to care for, he can't hide inside during molting season. It's MORNING EDITION.
