Americans and Energy

NPR's Kathleen Schalch revisits the energy shortage of the 1970s. If you're old enough to remember those long lines at the gas pump, today's climbing gas prices may seem a little alarming. That's not surprising, Schalch reports; Americans have a tendency to ignore energy conservation until they get hit in the pocketbook.
