Allergens In Our Beds

The first national survey of lead and allergies in the home finds high levels of dust mite and cockroach allergen in beds. NPR's Joe Palca reports that high levels of dust mite allergens were found in bedding in 23 percent, or nearly a quarter, of homes sampled. In addition, cockroach allergen was detectable in bedding of over 6 percent of homes. Sweet dreams.
