Cloning Debate

Congress has long been hostile to the idea of human cloning, but today the House was poised to make its disapproval official by legislating a ban on the controversial procedure. The big question was whether the ban would extend to what is called "therapeutic cloning" — the production of human embryos that are genetically identical to one person for scientific research. The Bush administration has said it favors a ban on all human cloning. NPR's Steve Inskeep reports from the Capitol.
