88-Year-Old New Jersey Man Fights Off Thieves

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep.
Rack up one more point for the greatest generation. On Sunday, a woman came to the door of an elderly New Jersey couple. She said she was from a local church. And as she distracted the senior citizens, three people slipped inside to steal the safe. The intended victims are in their 80s, but when the husband realized what was happening, the World War II vet dropped his cane, rose from his wheelchair, slugged the thieves, and recovered the safe.
