Dave Alvin is a Grammy-winning guitarist, singer and songwriter whose interpretation of roots music has won countless fans for its raw yet dignified power. For more than 25 years, he's been cooking up folksy songs that range from rockabilly to punk to blues. His latest project, Dave Alvin and the Guilty Women, offers yet another step in yet another direction.

Alvin began began his career with the traditional Americana group The Blasters, which played together from the late '70s through the '80s, when Alvin left the group to pursue other projects. Since embarking on his solo career, he's been lauded for his unique style by fellow artists and audiences alike. Alvin's songs have been covered by Los Lobos, Buckwheat Zydeco and Little Milton, to name just a few. His work can be heard in TV shows such as The Sopranos, and films such as Thelma and Louise. Topping it off, he received a Grammy for his collection of traditional folk and blues classics, Public Domain: Songs From the Wild Land.

His latest project, Dave Alvin and the Guilty Women, began at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco. Alvin gathered up a talented group of female Americana musicians, featuring Cindy Cashdollar, Nina Gerber, Laurie Lewis, Sarah Brown, Amy Farris, Christy McWilson and Lisa Pankrantz.
