September 24, 2009The Avett Brothers, led by siblings Seth and Scott Avett, got their start playing together in the rock band Nemo. They soon began playing acoustic music with friends on the side, though, and eventually released a self-titled EP. After Nemo broke up, the Avetts began working full-time on their new project.
With the help of bassist Bob Crawford, The Avett Brothers released a proper debut in 2002, and went on to release five studio discs and two live albums before breaking through to a larger audience with 2007's Emotionalism. The Avett Brothers went on to win the Americana Music Association's New/Emerging Artist of the Year award. For a follow-up, the band worked with legendary producer Rick Rubin on I and Love and You, scheduled for release Sept. 29.
