NPR's Margot Adler reports on the first confirmed case of respiratory anthrax in New York City: a 61-year-old woman who's on life support in the intensive care unit of a Manhattan hospital. She works at another hospital in the city, and hundreds of her co-workers, patients, and visitors to that hospital are being offered antibiotics. Public health officials don't know how she was exposed to the disease.
