October 2, 2009A performer who's always managed to dodge easy trends, Will Hoge plays sharp, smart, passionate rock 'n' roll that seems to exist out of time. The Nashville singer-songwriter invests his songs, as heard on his new album Wreckage, with a working-class feel and universal appeal. Click the link above to hear Hoge perform live in concert from WXPN and World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, along with another down-to-earth rocker, Langhorne Slim.
Born Sean Scolnick, Langhorne Slim fuses together folk music, country and blues, and has established himself as a hard-touring workhorse. Raised in Philly and based in Brooklyn, he's built his career up from the open-mic circuit to festival stages thanks to hard work, strong songwriting and the aid of a crack backing band, The War Eagles. His new album, which benefits from the addition of strings and pianos, is titled Be Set Free.
