Set List

  • "Selkie"
  • "Knock on Wood"
  • "Mystery"
  • "American Dream"

Kentucky-born singer-songwriter Ashleigh Flynn has opened shows for Nanci Griffith and Todd Snider, both guests on this episode of Mountain Stage.

Now living in Oregon, Flynn has made four albums of homespun tunes, the latest of which is American Dream. She nods to her Irish heritage in "Selkie," a song from her bluegrass-flavored 2005 album Sneakin' Out With Ashleigh Flynn, and ponders life's questions in "Mystery." The Mountain Stage band backs her in "Knock on Wood" and "Mystery."

Flynn is just back from a tour of Italy and Spain, and will tour with The Wood Brothers this fall.

This feature originally ran October 2, 2009.
