October 5, 2009 - During her eighth visit to Mountain Stage since 1992, Louisiana-bred Marcia Ball plays her signature jump blues, boogie-woogie and swamp funk. Ball was born in Orange, Texas, and grew up in nearby Vinton, La. She's been a mainstay in the Austin, Texas, scene since a chance breakdown in the city.

Inspired by the likes of Professor Longhair and Etta James, Ball released her 14th album, Peace, Love & BBQ, in 2008. With her distinguished, driving piano, Ball is joined in this live performance by tenor saxophonist Thad Scott, bassist Don Bennett, guitarist Matt Giles and drummer Corey Keller. She wrote "Where Do You Go?" with longtime collaborator (and frequent Mountain Stage guest) Tracy Nelson.
